Though, at 23, I still act like a big kid when the festive season comes around, I am a bit of a Christmas music scrooge. The songs that most deem as ‘classics’, I regrettably deem ‘done to death’. Take Slade for example – perfect for those annual Christmas discos at the local pub, but downright annoying when gathered around the dinner table around the 25th. Instead, I like to turn to the reliable Chris Martin or the festively folky Mumford & Sons in times of sleigh-bell swooning.
So if you’re looking for a truly festive Christmas mix full of cheesy classics, unfortunately you’ll have to look elsewhere. My December playlist is, however, a very wintry set of tunes to soundtrack your party-prepping and mince pie-munching, and will hopefully leave you with the same festive spirit I’ll be feeling all month long. I hope you all like it!
THE LUMINEERS – STUBBORN LOVE
KASSIDY – I DON’T KNOW
THE FAMILY RAIN – TRUST ME, I’M A GENIUS
KANYE WEST & JAY-Z – OTIS
THE ROLLING STONES – DOOM AND GLOOM
MUMFORD & SONS – WINTER WINDS
A BOY & HIS KITE – COVER YOUR TRACKS
PASSION PIT – WHERE I COME FROM
COLDPLAY – CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
And for those who like a continuously streaming playlist, this is just for you!
This playlist is for sampling purposes only. Please buy the artist’s record and support them at their gigs!
