The October Playlist

Posted on by Zoe

With the beginning of another month comes another playlist, but I’d like to think this one is a little more special than that. Not only will I be turning the dreaded 2-3 this month, but the extra drop in temperature come October gives me more reason to light all the candles in my house, pull out some extra blankets and watch my favourite Halloween films (Hocus Pocus and Casper, if you were wondering). It also means bundling up to face the winter air and go to a few gigs. For some reason, I love going to gigs in the winter. I don’t know why, but braving the cold with my favourite people for a night of music is my idea of a perfect evening out.

So, to make this month’s playlist extra special, I’ve dug out some special little songs from my own music archives. As my older brothers continued to blare out the rock tunes from their huge stereos upstairs, my impressionable ears tuned in, and at 6 years old I found myself, much to Dom’s surprise, singing all the words to ‘What I Got’ by Sublime. Out rolled the Dinosaur Jr, Ash, Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana, Pearl Jam - sub-consciously, I learnt it all.

As well as some old-school rock and ska from the 90s, I’ve included a couple of shiny new tunes aswell. I hope you enjoy the playlist as much as I do!
